5-19-2020 Update

Gallery Update

 

Due to the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic the Gallery Committee has made the very difficult decision to cancel all gallery exhibits through 2020. This includes the 50th Annual Juried Exhibit. The concern was the likelihood of low participation, lack of volunteers able or willing to be in a public setting and the need to limit gatherings, if indeed we are able to open our facility. If the outlook changes significantly we will schedule a Members Exhibit as our first event. Artists/members of course will be notified in advance. 

The 50th Annual Juried Exhibit, The Rottler Award Winners Exhibit and the In Response to Nature Exhibit will be rescheduled in 2021.

We are pleased to announce that the Gallery Committee is pursuing the possibility of York Art Association online exhibits. This will be an excellent way to continue to bring regional work to our supporters and for our member artists to continue to exhibit their talents. We will send an announcement to our membership as soon as we work through the details.

Education Update

I am sure that you are all concerned about June workshops with the York Art Association.  As of right now, we plan to move ahead on schedule. Since there is a possibility that in-person workshops may not be permitted or feasible, YAA will make a final decision one week prior to the start of each workshop. If the workshop can not run as planned, it may be cancelled, restructured for online via Zoom or rescheduled during our fall session in November or December.

If your membership is up for renewal and you currently do not use a PayPal Subscription, you may send us a check with “Membership Renewal” in the note section and we will be happy process your renewal.

To our valued members, friends and supporters of YAA,

As we have all endured the past 6 weeks of public closure, it is more important than ever to continue the safe practices that we have in place at YAA. We are missing our connection with you all and hope this message finds you safe and healthy.

Here are our latest updates to keep you informed with what’s happening at YAA:

Our building at 220 S. Marshall Street, will remain closed until further notice. Please continue to check our Facebook page and your email for updates on closures, registrations, classes and more. Questions can be emailed to: office@yorkartassociation.org.

The website is continually being updated now with current class listings, schedules, notices, dates and times.

If you had registered for a class or workshop that was cancelled, we are processing credits and refunds, if needed. If you still need a credit issued or a refund sent, please fill out this form: REFUND/CREDIT REQUEST FORM
If you don’t have EMAIL, give us a call 717-755-0028 and leave a message. We will follow up with you as soon as we can. Credits are encouraged, during this time of low revenue. We appreciate your support!

NEW Online Classes:

Kid’s Online Art Class is EVERY WEDNESDAY @ 3:30 PM with Shelby Young. It is a free event, no registration required, and open to kids of all ages. This trial has been a big success and has been filling our 100 online seat limit on a regular basis. Thank you to all that have supported by donating and sharing this opportunity in our community and beyond. (YAA will donate 10% of all kid’s class donations to the York County Food Bank)

Adult’s Online Art Classes will begin in May. Prices will start at $10/class, with registration only through the Zoom link. These class offerings will be posted on our Facebook page and will be shared via email from YAA. IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN RECEIVING OUR BLAST EMAILS (sharing the Kid’s Online Art classes and COVID updates), please send us your full NAME and EMAIL and we will add you to our mailing list.

Summer Classes:

Our summer schedule is still scheduled at YAA, but we are unsure of whether or not education programs will run at this time.

Kids Camps are open for registration on the website and start in June.
Adult Workshops will open for registration on or before May 1st to the website and will begin in late July.

Gallery News:

As you know, the Spring Member’s Show was cancelled. As the crisis continues, we have also officially cancelled our Rottler Award Winners Exhibit.
Planning for In Response to Nature, the Annual Fall Members Exhibit and the 50th Annual Open Juried Show are going forward, until we have more information.

Giving Opportunity:

Just as all small businesses are suffering, our non-profit has seen a large drop in income due to class and workshop cancellations. Give Local York is coming up on MAY 1st and we will be sending out invitations to support York Art Association. Your donation on May 1st supports our operations and opens the door for additional funds that help us function throughout the year. We are beyond grateful to those who have generously given during this time. We could not be the organization that we are without YOU.
