How many colors do you actually need to create an engaging painting?
In this workshop we will explore creating an entire painting using a triad….just 3 colors. We will explore several different combinations of colors and mix them to create a stunning variety of colors. After we finish painting, I will show you how to display your artwork without using mats and glass.
Creating is a necessity for me. I have always found an outlet for my creativity throughout my life. By teaching Art, drawing, painting, weaving, sculpting, jewelry making, etc.
But retirement from teaching has given me the time and passion to devote my time to painting. Watercolors are my passion and have been for about 10 years. I will continue to try learning this difficult medium forever. I love the translucent colors, the way water changes the way the paint flows and how you must plan for the next step or accept what happens.
I am honored to be included in this group of amazingly talented female artists. Each brings a different medium to show us the many different ways to view the Susquehanna River. Enjoy!
Donna Is on the Board of Directors for The Pennsylvania Watercolor Society (Recording Secretary and Signature member) and the Camp Hill Plein Air Committed. She is also a member of Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters, Philadelphia Watercolor Society and Baltimore Watercolor (Signature Member). She has had paintings juried into several watercolor shows: Watercolor West, San Diego, Pittsburgh Watercolor Society, Mid Atlantic Watercolor Exhibition, Art of the State PA and Philadelphia Watercolor Society to name a few.
WEDNESDAY (11/6) 6-9pm | All Levels | $60M / $75NM
Explore the expressive potential of charcoal and eraser to create rich, painterly black-and-white drawings. This technique focuses on building deep, velvety shadows and luminous, shimmering highlights, allowing you to capture the dynamic range of light and dark in your subject. Through careful layering and subtractive methods, Chris will demonstrate how to emphasize structure, form, and geometry, bringing out the intricate details and depth that give your drawing a sculptural quality. Perfect for those looking to develop their skills in tonal contrast and three-dimensional rendering.
